Relations between men and women have many aspects and are the subject of a variety of types of research. In recent decades, these relations were marked by the sole term “gender”. This term encompasses a number of aspects such as political, social, economic, cultural, anthropological, and linguistic. In this paper we will discuss the economic aspects of gender relations, namely the gender dimension of the labour market of Georgia.
The aim of this research is to study the level and forms of gender discrimination in the Georgian labour market. The paper discusses the problem of employment from gender point of view and identifies the types of discrimination on the one hand, and the results of gender biased treatment on the other hand. The paper compares inaccurate perceptions of gender related issues in the labour market – myths - that exist in the society - to the real situation which is presented by means of data and a questionnaire analysis.
