The present study takes a closer look at the gender impacts of the BTC pipeline project in Azerbaijan and Georgia, and the Sakhalin II oil and gas project on Sakhalin Island. Such a document was felt to be highly
necessary, as in the past the gender impacts involved in these projects have been overshadowed by other equally grave concerns about their economic and environmental influence.
