If the law is passed, Salome Zurabishvili will use the veto
2023-02-28 15:57:53

The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, once again criticized the Russian draft law on foreign influence and said that its adoption will pose a threat to Georgia's European integration. If the law is passed, the president will use the veto.

"I am categorically against the draft law that is being considered now. I will not discuss the law, I will use the veto in any case. I have no legal position that this or that article is not applicable. This law is being passed to remove us directly from Europe. Thus, it is unacceptable for me", said the President during her speech at the political forum related to gender equality.

The President issued the first statement regarding this bill on February 20.

"A force has been developed which, instead of strengthening the European path of Georgia, considers another path as the interest of Georgia.

The President of Georgia cannot support such legislation and the prosecution of new agents", she wrote.
