2023-02-21 14:05:18

On February 19-20, 2023, organized by the Women's Information Center and in partnership with the National Women's League, a two-day "Human Security" training on challenges and their effective management during crises was held in Zugdidi Municipality.

The training was held within the framework of the Women's Information Center project "Women and Youth, for the Implementation of the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda at the Local Level".

The purpose of the meeting was to raise public awareness in the direction of civil defense.

The working meeting was facilitated by Ana Nemsadze, Coordinator of Women, Peace, and Security direction. One of the speakers at the meeting was Tsitsino Shengelia, project assistant of the United Nations Women's Organization. She spoke about the importance of awareness of civil defense. The training was conducted by certified trainers of the National Women's League.

During the training session, the conversation touched on such topics as natural and man-made disasters, war, drawing up an evacuation plan, preparation periods, properly assembling a rescue bag, communication with 112, first aid and personal safety, initial diagnostics, etc. In addition to the theoretical part, the relevant practical components of the module were integrated into the final part of each session. Participants performed thematic simulation exercises, including using mockups. In addition, various cases were discussed.

Workshops were held in an interactive mode with maximum involvement of the participants. Attendees shared their thoughts and experiences around each module.

The meetings were attended by: representatives of the United Nations Women's Organization, the team of the Women's Information Center, the heads of the municipality, the representatives of the support group of the military-civilian sector of the US Army, as well as the initiative group of the Zugdidi Women's Room and active women leaders of the local community.

After the training, the participants were awarded certificates.

"It was a very interesting and important training, as well as timely in the background of the current events. In terms of organization, logistics, and time management, everything was organized at the highest level. In terms of content - we discussed very relevant issues and the group was also interactive. The participants showed great interest, actively asked questions, and shared personal experiences, which once again emphasizes the importance of the topic. The practical exercises that the women went through are very necessary and valuable because in everyday life we can all face the dangers discussed. It should also be noted that the information was provided in an easy language, and the practical elements made this process more fun, creative and creative," said Tsitsino Shengelia, UN Women's Project Assistant.

About the project: Women's Information Center (WIC) implements the project with the support of UN Women and the UK government.
