Digital Photo Chronicle is a joint project of the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia and Geocell. The project aims at gathering old printed photos, letters, documents and other forms of communication in a digital archive.

Women’s Information Center (WIC) joined the project in November.

Within WIC’s Women as Agents for Change and Empowerment project the Digital Photo Chronicle team has scheduled visits to the target regions in Balghojiani (Kakheti), Shukruti (Imereti), Magharoskari (Mtskheta-Mtianeti), Aspindza and Toloshi (Samtskhe-Javakheti) to make digital photo copies of the photos from the archive of the local community, especially the photos depicting life of women.

Balghojiani community resource center ‘Baliani’ received books from the Head of the NPLG Giorgi Kekelidze as a gift. Youth also helped the staff of the center to put all the books in order on the shelves.

‘Baliani’ is one of the five community resource centers that have been operating in the WACE project’s target regions for strengthening technical skills and ability of women and girls. Fully equipped with computers the center is widely used by the local community.

WIC’s project Women as Agents for Change and Empowerment supported by USAID is carried out in partnership with Taso Foundation, Association of Young Economists of Georgia and Institute for War and Peace Reporting and aims at supporting women’s full participation in political, economical, peace-building and conflict prevention processes, promote their political engagement in target regions, empower women in socio-economic point of view through mobilizing communities, and identify local needs.
